If you want to try the world's best cuisine this year, you better book a ticket to France. Then Denmark. Then Spain.

Mirazur, a restaurant overlooking the Mediterranean Sea in Menton, France, was just named the world's best restaurant for 2019 thanks to chef Mauro Colagreco's elegant dishes like oysters with tapioca, shallot cream, and pear.

It beat out Copenhagen's Noma, which recently opened and has received much acclaim. Although many anticipated it would win, its second-place wine made it the highest-ranked new entry.

Asador Etxebarri in Atxondo, Spain, came in at No. 3. It was the first of Spain's seven restaurants on the list, making Spain the country with the largest number of top 50 restaurants.

The United States followed Spain with six restaurants on the list, the highest-ranking being Cosme in New York (ranked No. 23). Cosme's chef, Daniela Soto-Innes (who graced our #LikeABoss cover this year!) picked up another award for The World's Best Female Chef 2019.
