1. Goorin Hats

I'm a hat girl, and every year at the South By Southwest festival in Austin, I'd swing by the Goorin shop and build on my collection of really cool hats. It's a ritual for me! And I kept them all in our house, of course, so when it burned down, I started over again. Not the worst thing!

2. Burlap & Barrel Curry Blends

I was so sad when my friend Indian chef Floyd Cardoz passed away last spring. His wife is carrying on his legacy with these beautiful fair-trade spices. Use the Goan masala ($11.99) as a shortcut in my Bombay Grilled Cheese.

3. I Want to Thank You by Gina Hamadey

I spend a few hours a week responding to letters of support I've received from friends and strangers. This book ($17.41), by a friend and former colleague, encapsulates that spirit. By feeling gratitude and expressing it, she changed her world, and you can, too!

4. Inbloom Vitamins

I take daily vitamins, but it's a drag to put a big pile in your hand and choke them down. I really like Kate Hudson's InBloom. They're powdered, so you stir them into liquid. No more horse pills! I drop the Beauty Aura ($55) in my afternoon tea and sip my way to a healthy glow.

5. Converse Sneakers

When I'm recording from home, it's all from the waist up, so bye-bye high heels! I can't tell you how much I love these Converse ($100) that look like fashion but aren't super-pricey. They have a thick platform so I feel less dumpy, and the treads are great in the kitchen and outside in the elements.

6. Aplat Totes

I was gifted some of these (starting at $50 each) and they're gorgeous. They come in a variety of sizes and shapes—great for toting the dish you made for the dinner party. They're washable, soft, and stylish, and I'm furious that I didn't create them myself. A beautiful gift for yourself or someone you love.
