Picture this: You're lounging at the pool on a warm day. The sun is beating down on you. You're craving a cool, summery beverage—something sweet but refreshing.
Pepsi's new fruit cola flavors are here to quench your summertime thirst. The company announced it was releasing three new drinks to celebrate warmer weather: Pepsi Berry, Pepsi Lime, and Pepsi Mango.
The new drinks will feature a splash of real fruit juice—the first time the company has added fresh fruit juice to its products.
"This unique twist on cola creates an unbelievably delightful taste profile that is unparalleled in the marketplace, creating a refreshing way for people to cool off in the warm weather," said Todd Kaplan, vice president of marketing at Pepsi in a press release.
The colas join the pre-existing Vanilla and Wild Cherry Pepsi drinks, which got a sleek new can design to fit with the new fruity flavors.
These new flavors are coke companies' latest attempts to take cola drinks beyond the norm. In 2017, Pepsi announced a limited-edition Salted Caramel Pepsi that melded the sweet treat with cola. Earlier this year, Coca-Cola revealed its new orange-vanilla flavor—its first new flavor in over a decade.
Pepsi's three new flavors are currently available in 12-packs. After June 14, eight-packs of the beverages will remain available at Walmart and Target stores.
Reviews of the new flavors are limited so far, but People gave them a try. Lime was the best, they said, with the taste of a "freshly squeezed citrus wedge inside each can."
