It's officially hot chocolate weather, and it looks like In-N-Out Burger has gotten the memo. The beloved West-Coast burger chain just added hot cocoa to its permanent menu, according to Eater.
What's the big deal? Well, the last time the chain updated its menu was a whopping 15 years ago, with the addition of (wait for it) lemonade.
So why the change? In-N-Out president Lynsi Snyder said in a statement, “This is actually the return of hot cocoa. My grandparents, Harry and Esther Snyder, served it for many years beginning in the ‘50s. I’m not sure how it fell off the menu but it’s part of our culture and something special for kids, and I’m happy that we’re bringing it back.”
In-N-Out's cocoa is made with Ghirardelli chocolate and comes with those mini freeze-dried marshmallows you remember from when you were a kid. An 8-oz cup will set you back $1.65, but the the cocoa will be available free of charge to kids under 12 on rainy days.
