Baskin-Robbins is finally joining the plant-based trend. Starting August 1, the chain will have two non-dairy ice creams on the menu: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Chocolate Extreme.
The two vegan ice creams are made with an almond butter and coconut oil base that gives them the same sweet, rich flavor you'd get in regular ice cream. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough has cookie dough pieces, chocolate chunks, and a chocolate ribbon. Chocolate Extreme combines chocolate ice cream with chocolate chunks and a chocolate ribbon. Both are Kosher and free from preservatives, artificial flavors, and high-fructose corn syrup.
If it seems like Baskin's is late to the plant-based game, know they've been working on this product for quite a while.
“The Baskin-Robbins culinary team has been hard at work on our non-dairy flavors for over two years," said Jeanne Bolger, Baskin's director of research and development, in a press release. "It was important for us to take the time to get it right. Both flavors are so smooth and indulgent, and the final product delivers the incredible quality that our customers have come to expect from any Baskin-Robbins ice cream."
