Combine 6 tbsp. softened unsalted butter, 4 cloves garlic, finely minced, and 1 tsp. kosher salt. Cut a 3/4-lb. loaf of challah into 8 slices; spread butter evenly on 1 side of each slice. Arrange in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake at 400° until golden, about 10 minutes.
