Steak with Port-Glazed Mushrooms
Sauté mushrooms in port, brandy, and thyme for an extra-flavorful steak dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 lb. sliced cremini mushrooms
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, sliced
- 1/3 cup ruby port
- 2 tbsp. brandy
- 2 tsp. chopped fresh thyme
- 4 strip steaks (3/4 inch thick)
Preparation
In skillet, cook first 4 ingredients over medium-high, stirring often, until softened, about 6 minutes. Add port, brandy, and thyme. Cook until slightly reduced, about 1 minute; season. Meanwhile, season steaks. In cast-iron skillet, sear steaks over high, 3 minutes per side for medium-rare. Top steaks with mushrooms.
