Scotch Sour

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • ice
  • 2 ounces scotch
  • 2 maraschino cherries and 1 halved thin orange slice, for garnishing


In small saucepan, combine 1/4 cup water and sugar. Cook, stirring, over medium-high heat until sugar dissolves; let cool completely. Stir in lemon and lime juices (makes about 3/4 cup sour mix). In rocks glass filled with ice, mix scotch with 1/4 cup prepared sour mix (save remaining mix for another use). Skewer one end of the orange slice onto a toothpick, then top with 2 cherries. Fold the orange slice and skewer the other end onto the pick. Rest the pick on top of the glass to serve.
