Moroccan-Spiced Steak with Charred Oranges

  • 3/4 tsp. ground cumin

  • 3/4 tsp. ground coriander

  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne

  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon

  • 2 rib eye steaks (1 1/4 lb. each)

  • 1 tbsp. canola oil, plus more for brushing

  • 2 oranges, halved


In bowl, toss spices with 2 tsp. salt and 1 tsp. pepper. Pat steaks dry with paper towels. Rub spice mixture all over steaks. In cast-iron skillet, heat 1 tbsp. oil over medium-high. Cook steaks until browned, 6 to 8 minutes per side for medium-rare. Let rest for 5 minutes; slice. Brush cut sides of oranges with oil. Cook, cut-side down, until browned in spots, 1 to 2 minutes. Squeeze oranges over steaks.
