Middle Eastern Meatballs

  • 3/4 pound ground lamb
  • 1/2 cup grated red onion
  • 3 tablespoons finely chopped fresh mint, plus more for garnish
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange zest, plus 1/2 tsp. for sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, plus more for sauce
  • 2/3 cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin


Mix lamb, red onion, mint, cinnamon, orange zest and salt. Form into 16 meatballs and transfer to a baking sheet. Bake at 475 degrees until well done, about 15 minutes. In bowl, whisk Greek yogurt, 1/2 tsp. orange zest, cumin and a pinch salt. Spoon 16 dollops on a serving plate. Top each with a skewered meatball. Garnish with fresh mint.
