Citrusy lemongrass and sweet basil make this simple soda feel extra special.
Trim bottom 5 inches of lemongrass stalks; reserve 2 top pieces for garnish. Remove and discard tough outer layers from bottom pieces. Roughly chop bottom pieces. In small saucepan, bring 1 cup water, chopped lemongrass, sugar, and 1/4 cup basil to boil over high heat. Reduce heat; simmer lemongrass syrup for 10 minutes. Using fine-mesh strainer, strain syrup. Refrigerate until cool. Divide lemongrass syrup, lime juice, and club soda between 2 glasses filled with ice; stir. Garnish with basil and reserved lemongrass pieces.
