John's Cocktail: The Luchador

  • 4 slices of fresh jalapeño chile

  • 8 to 10 fresh raspberries

  • 3 oz. tequila blanco (silver tequila)

  • 1 oz. mezcal

  • 1 oz. elderflower liqueur (such as St-Germain)

  • 1 oz. fresh lime juice

  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup

  • Ice

  • Club soda, for topping

  • 2 sprigs cilantro, for garnish


In a cocktail shaker, use a muddler or the handle of a wooden spoon to muddle the jalapeño, then the raspberries. Add the next 5 ingredients. Fill the shaker with ice; shake well. Strain into 2 tall, narrow glasses filled with ice. Top with club soda. Garnish with cilantro.
