  • 1/2 cup drained roasted red peppers
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 16-inch-long baguette


In a food processor, puree red peppers, garlic, chili powder, smoked paprika and salt. With the processor running, drizzle in olive oil. Strain the pepper sauce through a fine-mesh strainer. Cut a baguette into about 30 half-inch-thick slices; toast until browned. Spread the cooled toasts with store-bought hummus, then spatter the "blood" over the toasts.
