Apple Sundae

  • Baking apples, such as Braeburn, cored
  • Water
  • Sugar
  • Low-fat vanilla ice cream
  • Caramel sauce
  • Walnuts, chopped
  • Maraschino cherries


Core baking apples, such as Braeburn, from the top and peel away a strip of skin around the hole. Sprinkle with sugar. Place in a baking dish with 1/2 inch water and bake, covered with foil, at 325 degrees until soft, about 50 minutes. Top with a scoop low-fat vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, chopped walnuts and a maraschino cherry.
