Rachael's Smokin' Thanksgiving Dinner
Fire up the grill for a small-scale Thanksgiving menu with big-time flavor.
One year Turkey Day was a "smalliday": John and I (and Isaboo, too) celebrated with our friend Adam Perry Lang and his family. Adam's takeaway barbecue joint, Daisy May's BBQ USA, is my number-one pick for street food in New York City. We love having Adam around because he smells like jerky! Isaboo's especially excited because he always brings her a "dinosaur" bone, a big fat cow bone she can gnaw on while we cook. Anyway, this smalliday was no sweat: The turkey was smokin' on the grill, and John and I were in and out of the kitchen in no time with easy starters and sides.

tips + how-tos
HOW TO SMOKE ON THE GRILL
1. Use a smoke pistol for extra flavor; it burns wood-chip bullets and circulates smoke inside the grill.
2. Half an hour before the turkey's ready, brush on more of the sweet bourbon-honey glaze.
3. Grab a friend and brush on more glaze every few minutes until the turkey's done.
