This New Company Wants to Make Buying Paint Easier
Meet Clare, the Warby Parker for paint.
Meet Clare, the brainchild of interior designer-turned entrepreneur Nicole Gibbons. Frustrated by the pain points of buying paint—a zillion whites (not to mention colors), messy swatching, coverage issues, a less than inspiring shopping experience in the hardware store or home center—she decided to simplify the process.
Gibbons' direct-to-customer company offers a tightly curated, designer-approved 55-shade palette available in three simple finishes: wall, trim, and ceiling. Primer is also available, and everything is Zero VOC and Greenguard certified, meaning there's nothing that's going to harm you or your family.
Paint gets sent directly to your door, which can be bundled with the exact tools you need for the job, no heavy hauling required. And at $49 a gallon ($39 for primer or ceiling paint), it's affordable convenience.
Oh, and swatching with sample pots is a thing of the past. Clare stocks readymade, repositionable painted squares in each of its colors, so the most work you have to do is peel off the backing and slap them up on the walls. For best results, look at the swatches several times throughout the day, in natural and artificial light, then move them to the next wall, and repeat.
Right now, your first three sample swatches ship free. And there's even a color identifying quiz to help you hone in on your perfect hue. Honestly, what are you waiting for?
