6:30 a.m. The first priority is to get our kids, Grace and Finn, fed. I'm on breakfast duty while my wife, Christy [Turlington], gets them dressed. My favorite thing to make is my great-grandmother's Swedish pancake recipe. It's always a winner at home.

8:00 a.m. I walk my daughter to school every morning and then head to my office, which is near our apartment. I write most of the morning and try to allot a few hours of uninterrupted time to work on a movie script each day.

1:00 p.m. If I'm in a good groove, I'll order in sushi for lunch. I get the same thing every time -- salmon sashimi, a shrimp tempura roll and a spicy tuna roll. If my writing isn't going well, I'll eat at a restaurant. I can think about what I'm working on and solve any story problems.

3 p.m. I'll often squeeze in a tennis match to stay fit. I'm promoting my film Purple Violets, which recently came out on DVD, so back at the office, I return e-mails and do interviews. The film is about thirtysomething novelists. It's my love letter to New York.

5:45 p.m. I try to eat with my family every night. The kids eat earlier than Christy and I do, but we sit with them and pick at whatever they're eating -- it's usually kid-friendly food like chicken fingers or pasta with butter. Once they're fed and bathed, we tuck them into bed.

9:00 p.m. Christy usually whips something up for dinner. But we often order takeout from our favorite Italian restaurant, Max. We get fish or chicken, pasta and a salad, and split everything. Christy was a much healthier eater before meeting me -- I think I've corrupted her.

10:00 p.m. We're lucky because we have outdoor space in Manhattan, so we eat on the patio as much we can. We drink red wine and just talk about nothing. It's our time to reconnect.
