The Great Debate: Homemade vs. Premade Margaritas
Nothing's better on a Thursday night than a killer margarita. Throw a sombrero on, pretend you're chilling in Mexico and your stress will slip away in only a matter of time. While the store-bought stuff is easiest to whip out of your cabinet when you're in need of a staycation in your kitchen, we're here to tell you that this simple four-ingredient homemade version is so much tastier! Cheers to hoping we just persuaded you to go homemade with your margs every time.
Prep: 7 minutes (2 minutes with premade simple syrup)
Price: $2.31 for 5 oz.
Why we love it: You simply can't beat the fresh flavor of real lime juice. And while the addition of orange liqueur -- such as triple sec or Cointreau -- ups the price, it makes for a tastier, more potent drink. Plus, you can make it as sweet or as tart as you like.
Prep: 1 minute
Price: $1.73 for 5 oz.
Why we don't love it: You'll be sipping in seconds -- just add tequila and ice -- but you might not love the cloying taste: High-fructose corn syrup is the second ingredient after water in most mixes, which also have artificial colors and little or no real juice.
