Rachael's Weekend at Burger Bash 2012
The sixth annual Burger Bash at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival in Miami was the best one yet. Thirty-two talented chefs went head-to-head for awards and bragging rights. It was a fun night of good burgers, good times and good people!
Get the Party Started!
The enormous open-air tent was set up right on the white-sand beach behind The Ritz-Carlton. There was even a live 12-piece band and dance floor in there.
Pile the Toppings High!
Chefs topped their burgers with everything from Cheez Whiz and pickled carrots to chiles and potato chips.
Fire It Up!
With so many hot grills going at once, you could smell burgers from one end of the beach to the other.
The expert judges had the hardest job that night: picking the best burger.
The Burger King!
I presented Guy Fieri the Best Dressed award for his burger with horseradish donkey sauce. My tweet from that night: "...you're a jackass if you don't have it."
Michael Symon's B Spot Porky Burger (with three kinds of pork) wins People's Choice -- his third year in a row.
The Best Buns on the Beach!
We picked the best burgers at the Bash, but we also needed to crown the best buns in town!
At my cooking demo the next day, chefs Michael Chiarello, Guy Fieri, Emeril Lagasse, Spike Mendelsohn and Ken Oringer shook their booties onstage for the title of Burger Bun King!
The crowd got fired up for these hot chefs!
And the Winner Is...
Emeril's shimmy and Michael's moves led them to the finals, but the crowd ultimately awarded Emeril the crown.
