We taste-tested dozens of frozen potatoes from the grocery store to find our favorites -- here are our best bets.

Best frozen potatoes

Cascadian Farm Organic Spud Puppies
We wish we'd had these when we were in school! The organic spuds' moist potato bits, encased in a crackly, salty crust, earned them an A+ from our crowd. Dangerously addictive, they've got a bite-size shape that's "just right for popping one after another," enthused one judge. ($3.39 for a 16-ounce bag, at grocery stores)

Ore-Ida Extra Crispy Golden Crinkles
These taters easily out-crisped the competition. The crinkly exterior gives way to a plush, smooth interior, while the hefty shape is ideal for dipping. "You could drown them in ketchup and they still wouldn't get soggy!" said one taster. ($3.15 for a 26-ounce bag, at grocery stores)

Alexia Waffle Fries with Seasoned Salt
Most people crave ketchup with their fries, but our panelists wouldn't let condiments near these winners. "Why mess with the perfectly balanced flavor?" a tester asked of the subtle blend of sea salt, pepper, dried onion and garlic. And, as one panelist noted, the waffle shape "really lets the seasoning get in all the crevices." ($3.79 for a 20-ounce bag, at grocery stores)

Trader Joe's Roasted Potatoes with Roasted Peppers and Onions
Gussied up with strips of smoky, fire-roasted bell peppers and sweet roasted onions, this red potato blend is sure to get you going in the morning. These champs (which come complete with a garlic and soy sauce seasoning packet) are scrumptious on their own or as a shortcut to a breakfast blowout. "I'd fry them up with eggs for a big, restaurant-style scramble," said one judge. ($2.69 for a 24-ounce bag, at Trader Joe's stores)

Archer Farms Sweet Potato Oven-Baked Frites
Nothing heavy here. Our panelists praised these babies for their "airy texture" and "tempura-like crunch," thanks to a lightly battered outer layer. They've got a touch of salt to balance the buttery, honey-sweet flavor, and "would pair well with mustard or spicy mayo," said one taster. ($2.49 for a 16-ounce bag, at SuperTarget stores)
