Rachael Ray: Hey, Gene, thanks for showing us your fridge. Before we start talking about what you've got in there, I have to know -- what's with the Popsicle?

Gene Simmons: Sugar-free ice pops are an invention of God. They hardly have any calories since they're mostly water. I eat about 15 pops every two days. Instead of smoking or drinking, you should just eat an ice pop.

RR: Good advice! I see a lot of frozen dinners in there. You and your family are so fit, so I doubt you're on a diet.

GS: Shannon [Tweed] and I don't diet because the tendency is to cheat. I keep Lean Cuisines in the house because I don't cook very often. Instead, I just pop a meal in the microwave whenever I get hungry.

RR: Well, I would have thought with that famous tongue of yours, you'd have a sophisticated palate. What are your favorite foods?

GS: I worship scones and danishes. If I never had another meal, I wouldn't care as long as I could eat pastries and jelly doughnuts. Shannon's the opposite -- she likes her food sour. She puts vinegar on everything: french fries, popcorn and even cereal.

RR: So, have you ever cooked to impress a woman, or have you just relied on your rock star charm?

GS: I know that you like to see a man in the kitchen, but I'm skeptical of men who cook. A man should be focusing his attention on the woman, and not what's on the stove. My style is to order takeout, light some candles and lavish her with affection.

RR: Speaking of women, I know you're close to your mom. What's your favorite dish that she makes for you?

GS: When I was growing up, she made Hungarian food, like goulash. But since I don't like stuff like that, she'd come home with cheese danishes for me every night. I'd cut mine in half, put jelly in the middle, and cover it with chocolate sauce and powdered sugar.

RR: Wow, you do like sweets! So, Gene, if you could have anyone, living or dead, over for dinner, who would it be?

GS: Me, of course. I'm fascinated with myself and love hearing the sound of my own voice. I'd like to hear what I have to say. A lot of people don't like being alone because they truly don't like themselves, but I love me.
