We’ll never tell you that red wine and Cheez-Its does not, occasionally, qualify as dinner. But that just got harder to justify, thanks to these healthy, ready-to-eat meal-delivery services. With options ranging from plant-based to paleo and short-term commitments to monthly subscriptions, there’s something for everyone. We tried three that are available nationwide. How it works: This Northern California company offers meal plans and cleanses, plus an à la carte menu with hearty mains ($8.95 to $11.75), like the Macro Bowl (quinoa, kale, sweet potatoes), as well as juices and snacks.
What we thought: “The salads stayed fresh and delicious, and I’d eat the raw cacao mousse for dessert every day of the week if I could,” says editorial assistant Kendall Wenaas.
How it works: Get pre-portioned cups ($6.99 to $7.99) of frozen goodness on a weekly or monthly basis. There are breakfast smoothies, overnight oats, and chia parfaits, plus savory harvest bowls and soups and even nondairy sundaes.
What we thought: “DH turned me into a freezer believer,” says executive editor Geraldine Campbell. “I loved the convenience of always having something in there.”
How it works: Choose a three- or five-day supply ($239 to $349 with a subscription) of beautifully packaged organic meals. Recipes have been formulated to be as nutrient-rich as they are Instagrammable. Menus are set but change weekly.
What we thought: “Loved,” says lifestyle editor Danielle Blundell. “Everything I had was legit tasty and a discovery for me—who knew tatsoi is the new kale?!”
