Instant Expert!: How to Cut an Onion

There's a whole lot of whole lot of hoop love about how to properly chop an onion. I'm here to tell you it's no biggie. Step one, half the onion lengthwise from root to stem. Now, using a paring knife, peel off the top layers of the onion skin. Step two, put the onion cut-side down on the cutting board, slice lengthwise down from the root end, leaving about a quarter inch apart and leaving those slices still attached to the root. Step three, rotate the onion a half turn and slice crosswise about one quarter inch apart. See those perfectly chopped pieces, one, two, three, done.
