soft and they're caramelize however you like them and then add the cream sauce and seasoned that with salt. -Okay. -So now that, that's all noted in, what we're going to do is move on to step 2, which is to just let it cooked and to take about 5 minutes. And you can see now, that it's like sort of liquidy and just kinda like simmering milk. -Yes, I see these little bubbles. -Exactly and after 5 minutes, it's going to actually start thickening up. -Okay. -You can keep stirring. -Okay. -Get this down a little bit. Once it actually thickens up, it'll be able to coat the back of the spoon-- -Okay. --which is how you know its thick enough to actually be a cream sauce and just toss to the pasta. -That's the part that sounds complicated to me. -Really? -Coating back of the spoon. -You'll see how it goes, it's super easy. -So, since this is only a few ingredients and, you know, you said it's pretty easy to make-- -Super easy. --should I-- if I'm having people over, make this while the guest served already here-- -Yeah I would do-- --this the last thing to make? -Yeah, pretty much, it's not one of those sauces that holds very well, you know, sort of like a film that set around the top and things like that. And it only takes 10 minutes, so it won't take that long. -Okay. -You don't have to concentrate. -Yeah, yeah. -So people can talk to you in the kitchen which is not, you know, a bad thing at all. You know, and two of the things to note is that for some reason that ends up breaking, and you'll be able to tell when your sauce has broken it, it sort of looks like the oil separated a little bit-- -Yeah. --you just wanna add some cold water to it and that'll help bring it back together and make the nice creamy sauce again. And-- -Okay. --you wanna make sure you get the sides the cream-- -Oh yeah. --to make sure that doesn't burn in the pan and if that just happen you just want to incorporate it into the sauce and make sure you stir it right and until smooth again. -Easy to forget the sides. -Yeah. And as you can see

a lifestyle department. And today, Teri is showing me how to make tomato sauce . -I am. We've actually got a really easy and delicious 3-step tomato sauce using just 4 ingredients. We're going to use 3 tablespoons of olive oil, which we have in this bottle here; 2 tablespoons of chopped parsley; 1-1/2 teaspoons of chopped garlic, which is probably 1 or 2 cloves; 2 cups of canned whole peeled tomatoes. And we're all set to go. So-- -Okay. -why don't we actually turn on the heat to medium high. -Okay. -And we're using a large skillet so that we can cook the sauce in the skillet and actually toss the pasta in it as well to kind of warm it through and stuff. Alright. So,
can do is just kinda crush them with your hands because the tomato sauce cooks for about 20, 25 minutes and so that will break it down and kinda make it that nice chunky sauce that we all love to toss with our pasta. -And more fun breaking it with your hands. -Exactly. It's kind of what I like about it. So, we just stir that in. -And then we just keep stirring, okay. -Exactly. You can go ahead and season it with a little bit of salt. -Just like a pinch. -Yup. Perfect. So, similarly to how we added the mushrooms and the sausage while we're browning the garlic and the parsley. At this stage, you could add things like olives, or capers, or shrimp with the tomato sauce . You can go and just add the tomatoes and stir it in. -So, now that all the ingredients are in, do I just keep stirring it or how do I know when it's done? -You'll actually just keep stirring it occasionally just-- You know, you can walk away, let it keep going-- -Okay. -for about 20 to 25 minutes. And what you're going to want to see when you come back is that it's actually cooked down. So, the chunks are kinda nice and broken up and that the oil has started to separate from the tomatoes a little bit, and it will darken a little, and you'll be able to smell it which is the best part. Alright. So, it's 10, 20, 25 minutes and this tomato sauce has been simmering on the stove. It looks great. The oil separated. You can smell it. -It looks so much thicker too. -Right. -Yeah. -It's totally broken down. It's perfect tomato sauce . We've also got a pound of cooked spaghetti ready to throw into the sauce , which I'll actually give to you. -Oh. So, we're just putting this into-- -We're actually gonna just start right up in the
  3. How to Make Pesto in Three Easy Steps

here. And it's a great pasta to use with things like a Pesto sauce 'cause there's a lot of surface there with all the nooks and crannies so kinda captures the flavor of the Pesto . Go ahead and toss that. -Okay. -And as I was telling you earlier, the great thing about Pesto is that you can actually keep it in the fridge for about 5 days. You just wanna pour like [unk] for that into like a little bowl or, you know, cup or something. [unk] olive oil on the top. And that will actually keep the pesto from turning black. It won't taste different but it just oxidizes once it's exposed to oxygen and everything. So that'll keep it from and sort of maintain its nice green color. -Okay. -The other thing is if you want, you can also freeze them in a little ice cube trays and then trench them to a plastic bag and freeze them for up to 3 months which is great for adding into soups, you know, using as a sauce . And this is great for, you know, using as a sandwich spread or topping a pizza crust. I don't know if you have tried that but it's definitely one of my favorite ways to use Pesto . -Yeah. -What do you think? -It's delicious. -It's delicious right? Thank so much for watching. -Definitely going to make this at home.

see all the clear stuff on top you don't want in your sauce because that's basically just grease and doesn't really do anything for that gravy . So, once you've removed most of the fat, you don't need to fatten up, so just get rid of that stuff, and in another measuring cup, you'll need about 2 cups of chicken broth. The amount of gravy we're making is just enough for about a family of 6 and for each cup of chicken broth that you usually need

some sautéed onions, or sautéed mushrooms, some canned chipotle peppers in adobo sauce , which actually adds a nice bit of heat to the meat as well. If you're working with softer meats, like turkey, you'll want to add some bread crumbs to help give it some heft and hold its shape while it's being grilled. But with all-beef burger patties, we also like adding other mix-ins. And here we've got some seasonings; I think this is actually Paul Prudhomme Magic Meat Blend. We also got some chopped chives, some chopped parsley and there's also things like hot sauce , Worcestershire Sauce which I'm sure a lot of you have tried, and some soy sauce . And again, all those things will add flavor and so eventually if you play around with things, you should be able to
