LEGAL SEA FOODS This upscale seafood restaurant (now an East Coast chain) opened in Cambridge in 1968 and quickly became the go-to spot for New England classics. The clam chowder ($4)--made of New England clams and served with oyster crackers--is no exception. (Multiple locations, including 26 Park Square, 617-426-4444) Chowder 75 CHESTNUT You'll find this local favorite, opened by the owner of the famous Cheers bar, tucked away on a lantern-lit street in Boston's quaint Beacon Hill district.
