Picky Eaters' Thanksgiving: Shopping List



Making our Picky Eaters' Thanksgiving menu? Here's a complete shopping list, with space for you at the end to add other items to pick up.
Note: Recipe yields are for four servings, with leftover turkey (eight servings), green beans (eight servings) and potatoes (four to six servings).


PRODUCE
1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage (about 10 leaves)
1 1/2 pounds green beans
2 pounds large russet potatoes
4 McIntosh apples
One 8-ounce package white mushrooms
1 large onion
2 carrots
2 ribs celery

DAIRY
3 1/2 sticks (14 ounces) unsalted butter
3/4 cup whole milk
3/8 cup heavy cream
3 large eggs

MEAT AND POULTRY
One 12- to 14-pound turkey
1/4 pound bacon (about 5 slices)
GROCERY
2 tablespoons fennel seeds
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
Couple dashes hot sauce, such as Tabasco
1/3 cup jarred roasted red peppers, coarsely chopped
2/3 cup Grape-Nuts cereal
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (eyeball it)
1/4 teaspoon freshly grated or ground nutmeg
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/3 cup chopped walnuts (a couple of handfuls)
2 tablespoons dried currants (they're like mini raisins!)
Vanilla ice cream, for serving
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup crushed chocolate-covered toffee
1/3 cup plus 1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
4 ounces (1 sleeve) saltines
