How to Arrange Flowers

Impress someone special with these tips from florist-to-the-stars Mark Held of L.A.-based Mark's Garden.

STEP 1 Find a vase with a narrow neck, which will give stems support. Choose two to three types of flowers in monochromatic tones.

STEP 2 Fill the container with cold water and add a drop of bleach to fight bacteria. Cut the stems so they are one and a half times the height of the vase.

STEP 3 Fix the arrangement to be slightly rounded at the top; get this look by placing flowers individually (some stems may need another snip).
