Ingredients
  • 1 2/3 cups sugar
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 5 1/3 cups milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons butter
  • 12 biscuits, for serving
Directions
  1. in a large saucepan off heat, whisk the sugar, cornstarch, cocoa and salt. Slowly add 1 cup milk, whisking to make a paste-like consistency. Gradually whisk in the remaining milk until smooth.
  2. Whisk the egg and vanilla into the milk mixture. Cook over medium heat, stirring, until gravy thickens and comes to a boil, about 15 minutes. Remove from the heat; whisk in the butter. To serve, pour warm chocolate gravy over halved biscuits.
