BANISH SHINY SKIN
Switch to an oil-free moisturizer. If your face is still a high-shine zone, blotting papers and pressed powder will help control excess in a pinch.
FILL IN OVERPLUCKED BROWS
1. Use an eyebrow stencil to shape an arch with a brow pencil or powder, applying color in small, upward strokes. Press lightly to avoid a drawn-on look, and keep stepping back from the mirror to check your work.
2. Superskinny brows may still have areas to trim. Cut the spiky innermost part of the brow (closest to the nose) to make an even line. Keep up with this technique while growing brows out, too.
FIX YOUR HAIR IN A FLASH
Lift hair off your face for instant glamour. If you have two bobby pins, you're in business.
1. Pull a 2- to 3-inch section (use your eyebrow arches as markers) to the top of your head, leaving a little bump so it's not taut.
2. Place the bobby pins in an "X" shape to secure. Finish with a shot of hairspray.
BRIGHTEN YOUR SMILE
Accentuate your smile with lipstick in a true red shade or one with subtle brown undertones -- orange-based reds will only make your smile look dingy. If you have fair skin, try a red stain instead of lipstick, and top with a sheer gloss. For darker skin, pick a deep burgundy.
SPIFF UP YOUR NAILS
No need to polish -- get glossy nails and smooth out natural ridges with a buffer. Using short back-and-forth movements, quickly skim it over nail beds.
GO FROM DAY TO NIGHT IN A FLASH
Trade your daytime scarf for a long set of beads to amp after-hours elegance. Keep one or two accessories -- silver or gold dangly earrings are another good bet -- in the pocket of your purse for a quick hint of sparkle.
