From Every Day with Rachael Ray August 2007 Take Your Pick I'm a Tomato Head! I love tomatoes as is — raw, stuffed, cooked. From ketchup to marinara to tomato sorbet, I'm in! I come from a long line of Tomato Heads. My mother still tells tales about the tomatoes my Grandpa Emmanuel grew in his garden. His tomatoes were so sweet that she would eat them like apples, the juice running all over her face and down her chin. Once, I lived on tomatoes, bread and EVOO for months: I'd moved to Denmark (long story!) for a couple of months and had no kitchen. Dinner each night was made of ripe, ridiculously red chunks of tomatoes, which I'd crush and mop up with crusty rolls drenched in fruity olive oil and sprinkled with salt. (Man, am I hungry now!) My dogs have changed my life. First Boo and now Isaboo have enriched every moment I've shared with them. My dogs have made me feel loved even when I'm not at my best. They've taught me about true loyalty and unconditional love, and made me a better friend and conversationalist — they both love to chat! Boo had a fantastic singing voice, too, and what a dancer! I enjoy Cesar because he celebrates the individuality and personality of dogs as he would humans. If you're a dog person, make time to celebrate them as we do others. There's always room for a tray of Milk-Bones on your summer party buffets, right? I actually ate a Liv-A-Snaps treat once. (Again, long story. Not bad, though!) A shout-out to my bro, Manny, my hubby, John, and my friends Vicki and Boxer, and a prayer to my Nanny Moore — we all share birthdays this month. Party on! Love,
