Food is Love
By Rachael Ray
When you really want to show some love, keep the flowers and say it with spaghetti.
The way to the heart and the soul runs through the kitchen. If you want to catch a date, rekindle the flame with your mate, congratulate your child on an accomplishment or give someone you love a break, grab a pot or pan and get to work. Even if you burn the meal, food always communicates love. With this issue, I hope we inspire you to make just one recipe for someone you care about.
On the subject of love, John and I recently got married—in Italy! Our wedding looked like a scene straight from The Godfather (greatest movie ever). Johnny Fontane didn't make it—he was booked—but 130 family members and close friends did. Under a perfect sky filled with swallows, we shared the time of our lives, all dressed up in fancy clothes and practically buried up to our expanding waistlines in tasty Tuscan food and wine. In this issue, we bring the party home and continue celebrating with recipes, snapshots and special moments from our Big Day.
To balance the karma a bit, we didn't accept any wedding gifts. Instead, we offered a list of charitable organizations that are special to us and asked that guests make a donation to one of them, or to a charity special to them. Some of the strongest love bubbles up in you when you help feed and care for the people and animals in the most desperate need. Give a couple of bucks away today and feel the love!
