Brown Rice

Brown rice is white rices heartier, more healthful cousin. With a mild, nutty flavor, it's a natural choice when introducing your family to whole grains: it also packs three times more fiber than white.

- 2 cups water
- 1 cup rinsed brown rice
- 1/2teaspoon salt
- In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups water, 1 cup rinsed brown rice and 1/2 teaspoon salt to a boil. Lower the heat to low, cover and cook until the water is absorbed, 40 to 45 minutes. Fluff with a fork. Makes 2 1/2 cups.
