On those biting winter nights, a cold cerveza just won't cut it. Put the rosiness back in your cheeks with a steaming mug of our warm cherry-and-peach sangria. -Katie barreira

Makes: 6 servings

Prep: 10 mins

Cook: 10 mins

  • 1 cup frozen peaches
  • 1 cup frozen cherries
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 750 milliliter bottle  dry red wine, such as rioja
  • 2 whole star anise (optional)
  • 1/4 cup peach schnapps
  1. In a medium bowl, stir together peaches, cherries and sugar. Let stand until thawed, about 10 minutes. In a medium pot, bring wine, anise if desired and the fruit mixture to a simmer over medium-high heat. Remove from the heat and stir in schnapps; discard the star anise, if used. Serve warm in mugs.
  • For a nonalcoholic sangria, use grape juice instead of wine, and peach nectar instead of schnapps.
