  • 6 Servings
  • Prep 10 min (plus standing)
  • Cook 10 min

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup frozen peaches
  • 1 cup frozen cherries
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 750 ml bottle dry red wine, such as rioja
  • 2 whole star anise (optional)
  • 1/4 cup peach schnapps

For a nonalcoholic sangria, use grape juice instead of wine, and peach nectar instead of schnapps.

Directions:

  1. In a medium bowl, stir together peaches, cherries and sugar. Let stand until thawed, about 10 minutes. In a medium pot, bring wine, anise if desired and the fruit mixture to a simmer over medium-high heat. Remove from the heat and stir in schnapps; discard the star anise, if used. Serve warm in mugs.
